The Fading Promise of "Achhe Din": A Decade Under Modi's Leadership

Modi’s India: Promises, Pitfalls, and the Price We’re Paying In 2014, India witnessed a seismic shift in its political landscape when Narendra Modi ascended to power, carrying the hopes of millions with his promise of "Achhe Din" - better days ahead. His charismatic personality and compelling narrative of development, nationalism, and anti-corruption resonated deeply with the Indian populace. However, as we look back over the past decade, it's crucial to examine how these promises have materialized. Economic Challenges: The Crumbling Pillars of Progress The economic story of Modi's India presents a complex picture of struggle and decline. Unemployment has reached a 45-year high, leaving millions of young Indians scrambling for opportunities. The daily life of average citizens has become increasingly difficult with LPG cylinder prices crossing ₹1,100 and fuel prices consistently hovering above ₹100 per liter. The rupee's decline to ₹83 against the dollar further re...

"Strange, isn't it?

You know yourself better than anyone else yet you crumble at the words of someone who hasn't even lived a second of your life. The world is filled with people who think they know you. Listen to no one else's voice but your own." This life is what you make it. No matter what, you're going to mess up sometimes, it's a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they'll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up. If you give up you'll never find that person who inspires you to become a better person and that goes for every...
WHEN BEING RAPED, SHE SHOULDN'T FIGHT BACK. SHE SHOULD JUST BE SILENT AND ALLOW THE RAPE.  Rape never happens in individuality and it is never the first step. No one is born a rapist and there is always a process that leads to the making of a rapist. The justice system in this country must recognize that capital punishment would not be able to manage the process behind the birth of a rapist single-handedly. We, as a society, have a bigger role to play in recognizing and curbing the factors which perform an unnoticed yet important role in the growth of rape culture in India Housework and housekeeping is for girls," he claimed, "not roaming in discos and bars at night doing wrong things, wearing wrong clothes. About 20 percent of girls are good." If women are not "good,", men have a right to "teach them a lesson" by raping them.  And if that happens, the woman being raped has a responsibility to silently accept the assault. "When being raped, s...
It will never get better! How Ramdas become sacrificial lambs at the hands of the establishment. Their journey is marred by social exclusion and isolation, stemming from their firm anti-establishment stances which are conveniently labeled as "anti-national."  For every vocal individual from an oppressed section of society, the story is one of having to fight lonely battles. If they adopt a political voice, they are inevitably abandoned, even by supposed well-wishers. This is because the Sanghis tend to prioritize self-preservation interests over solidarity to be quoted as ‘bhaichara’. Ironically, even self-professed champions of feminism often forget their proclaimed values when it comes to a Dalit woman. Those one considered friends and confidants rarely have the courage to stand with us as Savarkar always comes before friendship.  Then there are the "apolitical" privileged sections who remain willfully blind to the harsh realities ,secure in their cocooned existen...

Paradox of Untouchability

I was not untouchable then? ~Kandswamy Rape erases caste boundaries, as the victim becomes "touchable" to her attacker ; paradoxically strips away the untouchability. A 14-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly abducted from her house, gang-raped and killed in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. Her body was found in a semi-naked condition in a pond. Her mouth was gagged and there were several injuries and bloodstains on her body. She was hacked to death with a sickle and the accused in the crime is suspected to be a youth from her village in Bihar. She was injured in three places, including her face, back of neck and hand as she refused to get married to him. The heinous acts committed against a young Dalit girl in Bihar represent the systemic oppression and deeply rooted caste hierarchy that continues to plague our society everyday. This is not merely a series of isolated incidents, but the prevalent structural violence that subjugates marginalized communities, particularly Dalit wom...
